I am a visual anthropologist working with photography.
My approach comes from anthropology, where observation and presence are central.
Instead of directing or staging from the outside, I spend time, I observe, and I work from within the situation.

Photography, for me, is not just about creating images.
It is a way of understanding people, relationships and environments.

The camera helps me notice details, gestures and dynamics that often pass unnoticed.
It also allows moments to be revisited later — to see connections, emotions and patterns that are not always visible at first.

In portraits, this means:

I pay attention to what is visible — but also to what can be felt:
atmosphere, tension, closeness, distance, presence.

Some images are quiet and observational, others are more collaborative or shaped together.
Both are part of my way of working.

Wie ich arbeite...
Ich bin visuelle Anthropologin und arbeite mit Fotografie.
Mein Zugang ist geprägt von der Anthropologie – und von einer ethnographischen Haltung, in der Beobachtung, Zeit und Präsenz eine zentrale Rolle spielen.
Ich arbeite nicht, indem ich Situationen von außen inszeniere oder kontrolliere. Stattdessen nehme ich mir Zeit, komme an, beobachte und bewege mich innerhalb der Situation.
Fotografie ist für mich mehr als das Erstellen von Bildern. Sie ist eine Form, Menschen, Beziehungen und Räume zu verstehen.
Die Kamera unterstützt mich dabei, feine Details wahrzunehmen – Gesten, Stimmungen und Dynamiken –, die im Moment selbst oft kaum greifbar sind. Gleichzeitig eröffnet sie die Möglichkeit, später noch einmal hinzusehen und Zusammenhänge, Emotionen oder Muster zu erkennen, die sich erst mit Abstand zeigen.
In der Porträtarbeit bedeutet das:

Mich interessiert nicht nur das Sichtbare, sondern auch das Spürbare: Atmosphäre, Nähe und Distanz, Spannung, Vertrauen, Präsenz.
Manche Bilder entstehen still und beobachtend, andere im gemeinsamen Prozess. Beides ist Teil meiner Arbeitsweise.
Vertrauen ist dabei grundlegend. Jede Begegnung ist anders, und ich arbeite achtsam im Umgang mit Grenzen, Sichtbarkeit und Einverständnis.
Es geht mir nicht darum, alles erklärbar zu machen.
Sondern darum, Bilder entstehen zu lassen, die etwas in sich tragen – etwas Echtes, das erfahrbar ist, auch wenn es sich nicht vollständig in Worte übersetzen lässt.
